Default Singapore Girl still a great way to fly

I decided to take a break from flying Thai Airways because I had to make a stop in Singapore anyhow - so I booked SQ from Bangkok - Jakarta via Singapore in both directions.

Each leg of the journey was a newish 777-200 aircraft - these are wonderful and clean - but if you prefer aisle seats, be aware that rows C, D and H have boxes underneath the seat, presumably for video connections, which may restrict your legroom somewhat. Only row G does not have this equipment so if legroom is a priority, book a seat in row G.

The Singapore Girls are still superb and a cut above when it comes to service, friendliness and politeness. Though some of them are starting to hit their 40s, most of them are still easy on the eyes and when you combine that with the level of service, I can't think of another airline I would recommend more highly than SQ.

As for the food - it ain't no 5-star restaurant but their food is still easily the best I've seen in economy class, though perhaps Cathay Pacific also serves a higher standard of food.

Do be aware, though, that many travellers share my view - as a result flights are usually quite full and it might be difficult to get a seat. Thai Airways used to be of a similar standard but in my mind they can't even hold a candle to SQ any more.
